US Monetary System and Democracy

LWVWC Event:

At our April 2026 program, John Howell from the Athens County LWV spoke about the results of the Athens County LWV Monetary Committee’s study on the US Monetary System’s Impact on Democracy. This topic has relevance to our league on several fronts:

1. The topic itself is timely and informative as we enter the 2026 election cycle
2. The presentation gives our newer members a look into the Study process of the LWV; something we would like to consider engaging in for the near future
3. It offers us an opportunity to participate in the National Meeting as the Athens County LWV makes their proposal for a national study on this topic (Watch for our May meeting where we’ll build our position on their proposal that we can present during the plenary session of the LWV National Conference in June)
